MGM Channel is a Canadian English language category B specialty channel owned by Hollywood Suite that broadcasts completely in high definition. The channel broadcasts films primarily from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer library in addition to Canadian content. Films are broadcast in their entirety, uncut, and commercial free, with the only commercial messages airing between films.[1]
On July 2, 2010, Jay Switzer (co-founder of Hollywood Suite), was granted 4 category 2 digital specialty channel licences by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), each devoted to various film genres such as action and adventure, and love and romance.
While initially set to launch on November 14, 2011, after several short delays, the channel launched on November 23, 2011[2] using one of the above mentioned licences on EastLink.
